1UP goes to ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS
Sean Magee, mastering engineer and vinyl guru at Abbey Road Studios cut ‘Under the Same Sun’ to vinyl. He specialises in cutting to vinyl lacquer.
Sean has an amazing record of vinyl mastering – Sean has won a Grammy for his work on the 2009 Beatles Remasters, and has worked with some of the most prestigious names in pop, rock and jazz worldwide including Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, John Lennon, Duke Ellington, Nina Simone, U2, Tina Turner, The Sex Pistols and Public Image Limited.
It was something else seeing the grooves appear in the previously mirrored lacquer disc – a kind of alchemy.
